St Machar pupils set to rock the aisles with 90s-based musical

St Machar Academy pupils and staff are all ready to Turn Back Time with 90s chart topping music from the likes of Cher, Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls by performing in nostalgic musical, it was announced today (Friday 22 February).

The talented ensemble will be performing in Popstars the 90’s Musical in the school hall on Wednesday 27, Thursday 28 February and Friday 1 March.

The musical is about a love-triangle with a pop talent show at the centre of things as a girl band takes on a boy band for the Grand Prize. Fun and hilarity, and more than a few vintage pop classics are guaranteed along the way!

The musical is being performed under licence from the creators Music Theatre International and as well as featuring an eight-piece band, sound will be provided by Granite City Events.

St Machar Academy music teacher, Sally Mcpherson is the producer and musical director of the show and is looking forward to the big nights. She said: “This is a brilliant show with loads of classic songs from the 90’s and a lot of laughs, that will appeal to an audience of all ages.

We have had so much fun rehearsing it and the pupils and staff are now ready to bring their energy and enthusiasm to the St Machar stage.

“We can guarantee a fantastic evening which will leave you with a smile on your face, so please come along and support our pupils.”
