New Creative Funding launched for organisations and individual artists
This week sees the launch of the revamped Creative Funding from Aberdeen City Council. Creative Funding gives cultural organisations, community groups, charities and individual artists the opportunity to apply for a share of £315,000 to deliver creative activity in the city.
Previous years have seen awards for festivals, community groups, brand new arts organisations and support for projects run by individual artists and established organisations. A range of projects can be considered such as performances, exhibitions, networking events or even something completely new and innovative; there are few limitations on the type of project that can be supported. In 2015 alone, the Aberdeen City Council cultural funding programme supported over 50 different projects across the city involving over 1000 volunteers, 10,000 participants and 500,000 audience members.
Aberdeen City Council Depute Leader Councillor Marie Boulton says “Aberdeen City Council recognises the importance of investing in the arts and this latest funding stream makes it easier than ever to access vital funds to enable cultural projects to happen in the city. We’ve seen over the last few years how important this funding is for increasing the quality of life in Aberdeen, and allowing artists and organisations to create work in the city.”
“I hope the funding will be just as popular as in previous years, and that it results in yet more high quality projects and work that showcase the talents of the north east arts community.”
The first round will open on the 14th March with a deadline of 22nd April. Applicants will be notified of the outcome on the 3rd June. A second application window will open on the 6th June with a deadline of April 27th and notification of outcome on the 9th September. Organisations, charities and community groups can apply for up to £15,000 while individuals are able to apply for up to £2,000 for the delivery of activity, projects or artistic development.
Application forms and guidelines will be available on the Aberdeen City Council website from Monday 14th March at 9am - www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/culture
