Businesses invited to showcase opportunities at youth recruitment event
Businesses seeking to employ young workers are invited to promote their vacancies for free at Aberdeen’s upcoming Moving On youth recruitment event.
Hundreds of young people considering their next steps after leaving school will attend the recruitment event to find out about training, apprenticeship and employment opportunities available in the city.
The annual Moving On event is hosted by Aberdeen City Council, in partnership with Skills Development Scotland. Since its inception it has supported businesses across a wide range of sectors to recruit new employees by bringing them together with a pool of young job seekers.
Moving On also promotes training opportunities for young people and exhibition space is available for training providers, as well as for employers.
Aberdeen City Council Communities, Housing and Infrastructure convener Councillor Yvonne Allan said: “It is vital that young people can access information to help them make decisions that will shape their future. By employing young people, businesses can attract enthusiastic, fresh-thinking and committed talent. I would encourage local employers with opportunities to participate in this event and help shape the workforce of the future.
“This is the Year of the Young Person and this event plays a key role in supporting keen young men and women to begin pacing the way for their future careers. Moving On can play a key role in this for Aberdeen’s younger citizens, as well as for its employers and training providers.
“It is important that the council, businesses and training providers embrace the opportunity to support young people in getting their foot on the ladder, while building the workforce of tomorrow, so ensuring a strong and vibrant economic future for Aberdeen. ”
The Moving On event will be held in the Town House, on Thursday 29 March from 1.30pm to7pm. It is delivered as part of Aberdeen Guarantees, a partnership initiative led by Aberdeen City Council aimed at improving opportunities for 14-25-year-olds.
The closing date for organisations to apply for a free exhibition space is Friday, 2 March.
