Businesses invited to promote vacancies at city jobs fair

Employers are being invited to play their part in a recruitment event being hosted in Aberdeen later this year.

Aberdeen City Council is joining forces with the Department for Work and Pensions to deliver the second annual Progress Through Positive Partnerships jobs fair.

Exhibition space at the 26 September event is free and will be allocated on a first-come first served basis. It is anticipated that the event will offer a range of job opportunities including seasonal, part-time, full-time, temporary and permanent posts across a variety of sectors.

Space will be available for job hunters to complete application forms.

The Progress Through Positive Partnerships team will be on hand to support job seekers and give them the opportunity to sign up to the project, which not only offers job seeking support to clients, but also support, training, work experience and volunteering opportunities as part of their journey to employment.

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader, Councillor Jenny Laing said: “Aberdeen City Council is delighted to continue the partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions for the second annual jobs fair.

“It follows the hugely successful event held last year which attracted hundreds of job seekers and I would encourage any organisation in the city with vacancies to book space at the event.”

Part-funded by the European Structural Fund (ESF), the project, which forms part of the City Centre Masterplan, is designed to provide participants with support and tailored assistance to develop employment and vocational skills.

Progress Through Positive Partnerships is a £2.2million project, which has secured £880,000 from the European Structural Fund. Participants will benefit from a wide range of training options in areas including engineering skills, welding, care, computing skills, one-to-one support, CV building, job seeking and interview skills, literacy, numeracy and language support, media skills, cookery and outdoor pursuits.

The Progress Through Positive Partnerships jobs fair will be held in the Town House, Broad Street, Aberdeen, from 10am until 2pm. Set up will be from 8am.
