Aberdeen City Council moves towards Co-Leadership

Aberdeen City Council took another step closer to being led by Co-Leaders after agreement by members of the Full Council yesterday (Wednesday 21 June).

It followed a joint motion put forward by Councillor Douglas Lumsden and the Leader of Aberdeen City Council Councillor Jenny Laing.

The motion carried with now see the Head of Legal and Democratic Services bring a report to the next Full Council meeting with recommendations on how the role of Leader of the Council can be carried out by Co-Leaders, without there being a Deputy Leader, in a way that complies with the governance framework of the Council including any provisions in the Standing Orders.
