2000AD illustrator to lead Tillydrone workshop

Edinburgh based illustrator and comic artist Tom Foster will bring a touch of Dredd to Tillydrone Library next Saturday (26 August) when he leads a graphic novel workshop.

The event, which takes place at 1pm is part of the programme to celebrate 125 Years of Aberdeen Central Library and is aimed at anyone aged 16 and over. Participants will learn more about what makes a good graphic novel, the art of illustration and gain some invaluable advice and tips on graphic novel writing.

Tom has just finished producing a series called ‘Storm Warning’ which he co–created with Leah Moore and John Reppion for the Judge Dredd Megazine. He uses digital media and pencils and ink to create his comic works’. Tom has an Honours degree in Illustration and Printmaking and received the Rotary Club Award for outstanding Achievement at his degree show in 2013.

Tom’s work is geared towards an action and super-hero market. He is currently illustrating comics for 2000AD.

Councillor Marie Boulton said “We are very much looking forward to welcoming Tom to Aberdeen to host his workshop. It is a great opportunity for budding graphic novelists to get first-hand experience from an established illustrator”.

The event is free but spaces for this hands-on workshop are limited so booking is essential. Contact Tillydrone Library on 01224 276975 or e-mail TillydroneLibrary@aberdeencity.gov.uk  to book.
